We keep hearing about “fake news” and how all these businesses that backed Hillary Clinton are going to SAVE US from this horrible menace.
Of course the real goal is to silence dissent. Now that Donald Trump won, they’re worried they’re losing control over what you read.

Note the above photo. Then-First Lady Hillary Clinton on a sailboat with Walter Cronkite. This kind of cozy relationship between big media stars, and big Democrat Party stars, has been around for a long time. Before the Internet, they were in total control of the news.
Even in the Internet era though, they were mostly in control. The mighty Drudge Report was mostly just repeating stories that were initially investigated by big media outlets. But now an entire media world has been established in opposition to them. RedState, Townhall, the Daily Caller, and yes even Breitbart don’t just promote their own ideas, but will openly oppose the left-wing “consensus” whenever we want to.
This year, the left-wing consensus was that Donald Trump could never win. The news said it. The polls said it. The actors said it. But the problem is, the voters didn’t say it, and it’s their vote that was binding. The shock of losing control like this, is causing grief.
As the leftists deal with that grief over losing, they’ve been searching for some way that they were “cheated.” So they’re pushing for recounts, talking about seceding from the country, and they’re ranting about “fake news.”
It’s true that this reflex to stifle “fake news” is a totalitarian impulse, one that seeks to completely exclude from the public anything that does not further their vision of a benevolent, all-encompassing government ideology. But this is not a drive being made in a planned, aggressive way. This is an idea being latched on out of fear. They’re afraid that this loss to Donald Trump is the start of a trend.
Particularly in young people, who might never have watched an election before Barack Obama’s win in 2008, we’re seeing folks don’t actually know or remember what it feels like to lose an election. They’re so used to winning, and being told that winning means peace and prosperity for their own, that they think losing means all is lost.
While we who oppose the left should take reasonable steps to protect ourselves from this lashing out, we should also welcome this. If we’re making the left afraid, and making them doubt that their consensus is eternal, then that doubt in itself will help destroy that consensus.
People are going to sense that fear, and be emboldened to tell the truth. So in a way, it’s their over-the-top reaction, that’s becoming self-fulfilling.
