If the college football playoff rankings are to be believed, then neither of the two best teams in the Big 10 will be playing in the conference championship game on Saturday night.
No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Michigan will be home watching as No. 6 Wisconsin and No. 7 Penn State square off for the Big 10 crown.
Both teams harbor slim playoff hopes going into Saturday night, hopes that probably depend on a Clemson loss in the ACC title game, which kicks off at the same time as the Big 10 tilt. Though they trail Wisconsin in the rankings, Penn State might actually have the better case for inclusion. They beat Ohio State, which is all but certain to make the four-team field, and appear to have gotten significantly better as the season has gone on. We’ll see if it’s enough. If the Nittany Lions are to qualify, they’ll need to beat the Badgers first.
Kickoff is at 8:00 p.m. ET. The game will air on FOX. Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt have the call. The action can be streamed free with a cable subscription on pc, cell phone, or tablet via Fox Sports Go — which can be downloaded via the iTunes store, the Google Play store, and the Windows store.
