Obama, Trump and the Tale of Magic (Carrier) Wand!

trump-obamaMaybe President-Elect Donald Trump can loan President Barack Obama his magic wand to use during his last celestial days in office. Because Trump’s wand works, it spirited the once Mexico-bound Carrier plant back to its American home in Indiana.

Rewind to June, when Obama derided Trump for promising to bring jobs back to America by keeping companies like…uh…Carrier from taking production plants south of the border.

“Well, how exactly are you going to do that? What exactly are you going to do? There’s no answer to it,” taunted Obama.

“He just says, ‘Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well, what, how exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer,” insisted the incredulous president.

The answer is — Trump did just that! Even before taking the oath of office, deal-maker Donald negotiated (a concept foreign to the dictatorial tendencies of Emperor Obama) with Carrier.

While President Barack Obama was busy with stuff like making sure transgender folks could choose where they pee, not offending Muslim terrorists, granting illegal aliens amnesty through executive orders, and ginning up race wars, the incoming and as-yet-unpaid chief executive got to work right away, Making America Great Again. Yes indeed.

Imagine that! Visiting Indianapolis, where Carrier has a furnace-manufacturing plant, Trump announced he brokered a deal with the company that would save about a thousand local jobs, instead of having them move to Mexico, where the labor is cheap.

For identity politics-loving Democrats like Hillary and Obama, who say black lives matter but do nothing for them, Trump’s Carrier deal actually does. It saved black jobs!

Blacks make up 50% of the plant’s work force and women make up half the workforce on the assembly lines, according to Les Leopold, Executive Director of the (liberal) Labor Institute. Good ole Les couldn’t wait to trash Trump’s Carrier deal.

During Trump’s visit to the plant, he said hello to a black woman working the assembly line, “greeting her and touching her arm. Pence said hello to her too.”

“She brandished a navy Make America Great Again Hat and they posed for photos, as she flashed a huge smile and gave a thumbs up,” according to the Indianapolis Star.

This doesn’t look like the behavior of a “bigot in chief” that the liberal media so desperately wants to make Trump.

And Trump’s just getting warmed up but you won’t see these facts in the liberal media’s headlines.

In addition to receiving a $7 million tax break (which will be spread out over 10 years) to remain in Indiana, Carrier agreed to invest $16 million to upgrade the production plant. That seems like a bargain. However, instead of celebrating the art of this deal, characterizing it as good news, or reporting about the insanity of Jill Stein and Hillary Clinton’s ludicrous recount crusade, the liberal media and politicians decided to squawk about Trump’s magic trick.

“Instead of a damn tax, the company will be rewarded with a damn tax cut. Wow! How’s that for standing up to corporate greed? How’s that for punishing corporations that shut down in the United States and move abroad?,” whined Senator Bernie Sanders in a Washington Post op-ed.

Bernie should know and admit that it’s a start in the right direction. Career Politician Sanders should know that Trump is required to work with Congress in order to pass any type of corporate tax reform law — before he’s allowed to impose tariffs on US companies that make stuff abroad with cheaper labor, that they then import back to the states, to sell.

Did Bernie Sanders express the same hysterical outrage over Obama’s billion-dollar auto bailout for GM and Chrysler to keep the too-big-to-fail American car manufacturers alive and union jobs? By the way, Sanders supported the $700 billion taxpayer funded TARP bailout, which included the rescue for the auto companies. Carrier’s $7 million tax break is miniscule compared to the bloated $50 billion GM received. But, we wouldn’t want to get bogged down by the facts.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest stomped his feet with pompous certitude:

“Mr. Trump would have to make 804 more announcements just like that to equal the standard of jobs in the manufacturing sector that were created in this country under President Obama’s watch.”

Mmmmm….thanks, but that’s a specious argument considering that the guy hasn’t even set foot in the Oval Office. I’d say Trump’s off to a fine start. Those jobs that Earnest claim Obama “created” are very debatable; particularly since during his presidency, America experienced one of the lowest job participation rates in history.

Earnest piled on smugly — bigly.

“So this is good news, but the incoming president has a high bar to meet when it comes to putting in place the kind of economic policies that would benefit American workers.”

You mean like repealing the Affordable Care Act, Obama’s hallmark economic policy, choking off Americans’ prosperity with skyrocketing premiums?

But again, let’s not get mired in those details.

Speaking of union workers: they used to be reliable Democrat voters until Trump wooed them in droves from Hillary, especially in the rustbelt states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania — all with a simple promise of jobs. THOSE guys liked Trump’s Carrier deal.

“If this step is any indication of what’s to come, we look forward to working with him,” said Leo Gerard, President of the United Steelworkers, who by the way didn’t vote for Trump.

Trump’s Carrier deal looks a lot like Republican Jack Kemp’s enterprise zone idea of rewarding companies with tax breaks for going into depressed, jobless cities and creating jobs.

What’s there not to like about these kind of Trump deals?

As difficult as this may be for liberals to realizw, Trump followed through on one of his promises.

Speaking of which, Trump must also follow through on his immigration pledge. There’s no use creating jobs for Americans if our President-elect doesn’t deport illegal immigrants who steal those very jobs he creates.

Still, what a relief to finally have a president keep a campaign promise, and place a priority on creating jobs and prosperity in America. So Mr. Trump, wave that magic wand of yours proudly and fiercely!
