During the Presidential campaign, Donald Trump positioned himself as the anti-conservative candidate, expressing a desire to mold the party outside of a conservative vision.
It looks like the party is following him. Welcome to the Party of Trump.
Ben Shapiro has highlighted a shocking YouGov/Economist poll.
57% of Republicans think free markets hurt us.
78% think gov should bribe companies.
75% think gov should threaten companies.

Shapiro’s words say it all. “57% of Republicans think free markets hurt us. 78% think gov should bribe companies. 75% think gov should threaten companies. Welp.”
This is scary. This is a 180 degree turn from the previous 35 years of the Republican party, which moved ever closer to the views of Ronald Reagan. Instead of free markets and free men, we now see a Republican party that stands for government having a free hand to meddle in the economy, abridging our liberties to choose politically correct outcomes.

Free markets are out. Dirigisme is in. Who knew the Republican Party would end up more like Jacques Chirac, than Ronald Reagan?
