The New York Knicks haven’t been involved in many anticipated regular season games over the course of this millennium. But tonight just might be one. The Knicks, winners of four straight, entertain LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at Madison Square Garden.
The Cavs have gotten off to yet another strong start, compiling a 14-5 record to date, good for first place in the East. But the Knicks have used their four game streak to get to 12-9, and put themselves solidly in the hunt. Second-year phenom Kristaps Porzingis has been superb, averaging 20.6 points per game to help give the Knicks franchise a glimmer of hope for the first time in nearly two decades.
The biggest drama between these two teams, though, has been happening off the court — between James and Knicks President Phil Jackson. In an interview with ESPN, Jackson referred to several of LeBron James’s business associates as a “posse.” James believes that the term was racially motivated. Both men have said they have no interest in meeting to clear the air.
Tipoff is shortly after 8:00 p.m. ET. You can catch the action live on ESPN, or stream it online via WatchESPN on your pc, phone, or tablet. The app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and the Windows Store.
