Paul Ryan: ‘Overdue’ Sanctions ‘Appropriate Way to End Eight Years of Failed Policy With Russia’

paul-ryanEarlier today, President Barack Obama signed an executive order imposing sanctions on Russian intelligence services and companies while also booting 35 operatives out of the United States. This was in response to Russian hacking that was done to interfere in last month’s election.

In response to the announcement of the punishments, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) released a statement that both praised the action while criticizing the Obama Administration’s foreign policy.

Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump has not really embraced the intelligence community’s assessment that Russia was behind the hacking in an effort to help him in the election. Shortly after it was reported that the CIA came to that conclusion, Trump called it “ridiculous.”

Last night, responding to a question about Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) stating that 99 Senators believe Russia was involved, Trump said that people need to move on and commented on “the whole age of computer” creating a lack of security.
