On Dec. 23, President-elect Donald Trump hit the links with Tiger Woods at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, FL.
Thursday, the 14-time major champion golfer took to his website to blog about his round with the President-elect. And while Woods did not divulge his playing partner’s score, he was quite complimentary of his game — particularly off the tee.
“What most impressed me was how far he hits the ball at 70 years old,” Woods wrote. “He takes a pretty good lash.”
If Trump played to his past form on the course, it’s possible he could’ve given the four-time Masters champ a bit of a fight. In a 2014 interview, Trump claimed to hold the course record on Trump International, a six-under-par 66. (This was corroborated by Gary Wiren, the senior director of instruction for all of Trump’s courses.)
Woods didn’t go any further on Trump’s game, though. Instead, he talked about some of his back-and-forth with the President-elect.
“Our discussion topics were wide-ranging; it was fun,” Woods wrote. “We both enjoyed the bantering, bickering and needling. I also shared my vision for golf and what I’m trying to do…We didn’t have a match and played for fun.”
