Federal officials are now identifying the man who they believe fatally shot multiple people Friday at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport.
Police responded to reports of shots fired shortly before 1 p.m. near the Terminal 2 baggage claim area.
Florida Sen. Bill Nelson (D) said Transportation Security Administration chief Peter Neffenger told him the identity of the alleged shooter is Estaban Santiago. The suspect was reportedly carrying a military ID and a handgun, although it is not clear if the ID actually belonged to the gunman.
