An online crowdfunding campaign for the man who was tortured on Facebook Live last week has blasted well beyond its original target, in a display of human goodness.
Four African American teenagers have been arrested in charged with hate crimes last week after they kidnapped and brutalized a mentally disabled white man while they yelled anti-White and anti-Donald Trump slogans. A man calling himself “Razor” Sheldon took notice of the horribleness, and he started a GoFundMe effort to provide comfort and financial support for the victim and his family.
“For those of you that have seen the horrific torture and trauma recently inflicted on a young man in Chicago, it is not something you will soon forget,” Sheldon wrote. “Let’s prove to him that there is far more good in this world than the evil he recently endured.”
While the original goal was set for $10,000, the fundraiser has exceeded $120,000 in a matter of days. Sheldon has offered his thanks to contributors in several campaign updates, and he has shared information about the tortured man’s recovery from his ordeal.
“I never imagined we’d be where we are today with more than $60,000 from over 2,000 people not a day and a half later… and still climbing! That’s heartwarming, and reaffirms the fact there are many, many good folks out there in our local and global communities that care and want to help others.”
