In a blog post titled, “Our Latest Update on Safety,” Twitter has made it clear that the comfort and protection of users is a priority.

They are “working to identify accounts as they’re identifying in abusive behavior,” but while the staff at the microblogging giant does that, they’re rolling out features you can implement. Chief among them is the option to mute tweets from “egg” accounts that don’t have profile photos.

We’re also introducing new filtering options for your notifications to give you more control over what you see from certain types of accounts, like those without a profile photo, unverified email addresses or phone numbers. Many people requested more filter options for their notifications, and we’re excited to bring these to everyone on Twitter.

Trolls who create throwaway accounts without phone numbers or pictures attached can now be muted. It’s also important to note that certain keywords can now be muted for predetermined amounts of time, so if you miss this week’s Bachelor or the big playoff game, no one can spoil it for you.
