Tupac’s Restaurant Vision Will Be Realized This Weekend

This weekend, Tupac Shakur will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame at the Barclays Center in New York City. To coincide with the induction, Sweet Chick, a restaurant on the city’s Lower East Side, will be honoring the late rapper by realizing his dreams for a restaurant called Powamekka Cafe, according to Grub Street.

Before he died in 1996, Tupac had a lot of dreams. He wanted to make movies and television, and even thought he might want to get into politics someday. He also hoped to open a restaurant, naming it and drawing up blueprints. From April 7th to 9th, Sweet Chick will be a pop-up with a different menu that Grub Street says will include meatloaf, gumbo, and Sunkist-infused chicken wings.

This is not the first time Powamekka Cafe has come to life. Back in September a restaurant in Fresno, California also did a pop up for the 20th anniversary of Tupac’s death.
