Richard Nixon hasn’t been in the news this much since Watergate.
On the heels of the firing of FBI Director James Comey, the media lit up with references to the 37th president. Across cable news, anchors and pundits called the dismissal “Nixonian” and reminiscent of his own Saturday Night Massacre. Comey and the FBI had been investigating alleged connections between the Donald Trump presidential campaign and Russia.
But those comparisons received some pushback on Wednesday from none other than the Richard Nixon presidential library, which took to Twitter to remind the world that Tricky Dick never fired an FBI director.
