A lot of President Donald Trump‘s tweets so far about James Comey‘s firing have been about taking shots at Democrats, and after today’s press briefing he did the same thing:
Dems have been complaining for months & months about Dir. Comey. Now that he has been fired they PRETEND to be aggrieved. Phony hypocrites!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 10, 2017
There were plenty of Democrats who said months ago that Comey should be fired, but a lot of them now are questioning the timing of why Trump would fire him now, with the FBI’s Russia investigation continuing. Even some prominent Republicans are questioning the timing.
And NBC News senior political editor Mark Murray pointed this out:
Not sure he understands the gravity of a president appearing to interfere with an ongoing investigation.

The president tweeted about hypocrisy after Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the same during the briefing.
