Former Vice President Joe Biden spoke at a hedge fund conference in Las Vegas on Thursday night, and said he would’ve been a superior candidate to Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.
Biden offered some blunt comments about the former Democratic candidate, suggesting that he would’ve been a stronger force to stand against Donald Trump‘s rise to the presidency.
“I never thought she was a great candidate,” Biden said. “I thought I was a great candidate.”
Biden did suggest, however, that he still thinks Clinton would’ve been a more effective leader than Trump had she won. CNN’s report states that Biden said “Hillary would have been a really good president” during the conference.
Since leaving office, Biden has reflected on the election on several occasions, particularly over whether he might’ve entered the race if he wasn’t busy coping with son’s death from brain cancer 2 years ago. When asked if he might pursue the presidency in the future, Biden answered with “could I? Yes. Would I? Probably not.”
