We’re down to the final four weeks of the NFL regular season. And Week 13 kicks off with a dandy — one of the best primetime games of the year to date. It’s the defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons hosting the current NFC South leading New Orleans Saints.
A wide range of outcomes are very much in play with Atlanta. At 7-5, they could miss the playoffs altogether in a highly competitive NFC. Or they could win the NFC South and likely a No. 4 seed. The Falcons, though they are two games behind in the division race, play the South-leading Saints twice, and second place Carolina once. And as a result, they still control their own destiny in the division race with four games to go.
New Orleans enters this showdown off of another big win against an NFC South foe on Sunday, taking down the Panthers 31-21, completing a season sweep over that club. A win Thursday would all but put Atlanta away, and it would give them an almost insurmountable lead over Carolina.
Finally, on what has been a mediocre Thursday night schedule, this is a showdown worthy of primetime.
Kickoff is at 8:25 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on NBC and the NFL Network, which will stream the action on its website. NBC’s Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth have the call. Use the NFL Mobile app to watch on your phone or tablet. That app can be downloaded from the Apple’s iTunes Store, and the Google Play store. A cable subscription is required for the free stream. Also, the game will be streamed via Amazon for Amazon Prime members.
