President Donald Trump ran away from journalists today when they tried to ask him questions about his “sh*thole countries” remark during an immigration meeting this week.
Trump’s fleeing from the media came after a brief White House ceremony during which he signed a proclamation to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. After signing the document and taking in the applause, Trump headed out of the room while ignoring questions shouted at him from reporters.
The questions to Trump were quite direct.
“Mr. Trump, are you a racist?!” One reporter shouted.
This was Trump’s first public event since his alleged comments came to light, and even though he partially denied the reports on Twitter earlier today, they have been a persistent new source of controversy for the administration.
Senator Dick Durbin, who attended the immigration meeting with Trump, has countered the president by insisting that the reports about the “sh*thole” comments are accurate.
