During today’s broadcast of The View, the entire panel tore into President Donald Trump over his description of Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as “shithole countries.” And one host stated that she can now say definitively that the president is racist.
After Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar went all in on POTUS, conservative co-host Meghan McCain weighed in — stating that the stories that most resonate with her and her family are the ones of immigrants that come to the United States to serve the country. She showed a picture of a Haitian immigrant crying as he graduated from West Point to drive home her point.
Sunny Hostin then jumped in to add that she took Trump’s remarks personally because her husband’s family is from Haiti. With her voice rising, Hostin laid into Trump, exclaiming that she was “so offended” because it felt as if he was talking about her Haitian children.
She continued by noting that she’s been to Haiti, and that it is a beautiful country where her family is currently building a learning and medical center. This led Hostin mentioning how previously, she had declared that she couldn’t look into Trump’s hear and call him a racist, but that’s now changed.
“I can say now, Donald Trump is a racist,” Hostin said as the crowd applauded. She added that his “history of racism is well-documented.”
Guest host Wendy Williams, who has had Trump on her show multiple times in the past, explained that she found these recent remarks “surprising” and that she “didn’t know that he had lost his mind.”
