CNN’s Don Lemon, who unequivocally called President Trump a racist last night, said it’s time to stop “beating around the bush” on this.
“We have to stop trying to, you know, be judicious and eloquent in our language, and we have to call it what it is,” Lemon said. “How much more evidence do you need to figure this out?”
He reviewed things like birtherism in the President’s past and noted how John Kasich, earlier on CNN, declined to say whether Trump’s a racist because he doesn’t like “name-calling”:
“We have to start calling things what they are. If an apple is an apple, we need to call it that. It is not a banana. So if someone displays this sort of racist behavior and language and rhetoric, and there’s evidence time after time after time, then we need to start calling it what it is. I don’t know what censuring will do, I don’t know what any of that will do. We have to stop asking if this person is a racist, because the evidence is there. He is… That is what he is, that is what the evidence shows, and so that is what we must do, and stop beating around the bush.”
