Just when you thought we were done, the Stormy Daniels news cycle is back!
It was only just weeks ago that the nation was gripped by the details of President Trump‘s alleged affair with and subsequent hush money to the porn star.
And now, per The New York Times, Cohen is now actually claiming that the payment to Daniels came out of his own pocket:
“Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly,” Mr. Cohen said in a statement to The New York Times. “The payment to Ms. Clifford was lawful, and was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.”
He declined to answer several follow-up questions, including whether Mr. Trump had been aware that he made the payment, what the motivation was or whether he had made similar payments to other people over the years.
Cohen is just now saying this in response to a complaint one group filed with the FEC regarding the payment.
The Daily Beast reported early this morning that Cohen is shopping around a book that would, in part, address the Daniels “saga.”
