Florida Shooting Survivor Gives Tearful Interview to CNN: I Won’t Let This ‘Go Down as Another One’

Two students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School gave an emotional interview to CNN on Thursday as they talked about the attack that left more than a dozen of their classmates dead yesterday.

Kelsey Friend was in tears as she told Alisyn Camerota about a teacher who sacrificed himself to protect her and other students during the massacre. She nodded to fellow student David Hogg as she mourned the deceased and promised that they wouldn’t die for nothing.

“I will not let this shooting go down as another one,” Friend said, “because people are not understanding this is not going to stop. Just like [Hogg] was saying, it’s not going to stop until something happens.”

Friend continued to struggle as she talked about how hard it’ll be for everyone to resume school after this horribleness. Hogg got a word in afterwards and said that the nation’s leaders have to do something about violence prevention even as he goes back to school and tries to move ahead.

“I take a stance in my own personal way to say that’s not okay,” Hogg said. “I don’t feel afraid, I’m going to continue learning so I can prevent this from happening again.”
