Oprah Winfrey is making it clear that despite all the recent rumors and hopes from her fans, she has no interest in running for president.
Ever since Winfrey’s passionate speech last month at the Golden Globes, there’s been a lot of chatter about whether she would ever consider pursuing the Oval Office. Winfrey has previously insisted that she doesn’t want to go for it, and in a new interview with Ann Silvio for 60 Minutes, Winfrey said she would’ve removed herself from her current role as a journalist and conversationalist if she was seriously thinking about going into politics.
“Are you kidding me? I was just trying to give a good speech,” Winfrey said. “I was looking for a way to express what was going on in this moment in terms of gender, and class, and race.”
Winfrey told CBS that even though she intends to keep talking about issues important to herself and the country at large, a White House run is “just not in [her] spirit.”
