President Donald Trump’s hometown tabloid paid homage to one of its infamous front covers of the former New York businessman with its Wednesday edition — on the stunning ouster of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
“Worst Rex He Ever Had,” the New York Post cover blares. It’s an ode to a front page in 1990 that quoted Trump’s first wife Marla Maples saying the then-businessman and talk of the tabloids was the “Best Sex I’ve Ever Had.”

Trump fired Tillerson on Tuesday, announcing on Twitter that he would be replaced by CIA Director Mike Pompeo. The ouster was less than ceremonious, with the State Department claiming that Tillerson only found out about his fate via the public tweet, and wasn’t even told why he was being fired.
The original Maples quote was a bombshell in the gossipy New York tabloids, and contributed to the endless rumors — bolstered by blustering public comments, and sneaky asides from fake publicists — surrounding Trump’s 1990s love life.
Trump married Maples in 1993, and they were divorced by 1999 — after Trump fired his bodyguard when a police officer found Maples and the bodyguard under a lifeguard stand at a beach at 4 a.m. I’m not kidding.
