James Comey: Trump Asked Me To Look Into the ‘Golden Showers Thing’ to Reassure First Lady

The excerpts from former FBI Director James Comey’s highly anticipated memoir are trickling out, as expected. And they are definitely attention-grabbing.

With one excerpt revealing that Comey felt President Donald Trump sought loyalty much like a famed mafia boss, the New York Post reported that ex-FBI chief wrote that Trump wanted him to look into the salacious allegations made in the Steele dossier that Russians had kompromat on him.

Yep, we’re talking about the pee tape.

From the Post:

“He brought up what he called the ‘golden showers thing’ … adding that it bothered him if there was ‘even a one percent chance’ his wife, Melania, thought it was true,” Comey writes in “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” a copy of which was obtained by The Post.

“He just rolled on, unprompted, explaining why it couldn’t possibly be true, ending by saying he was thinking of asking me to investigate the allegation to prove it was a lie. I said it was up to him.”

Comey notes that this conversation took place at the same January 2017 dinner in which Comey claims that the president had demanded loyalty from him. This was also roughly two weeks after the dossier had first been published by BuzzFeed.

The former FBI head further wrote that he informed the president that if he began investigating the claim it could “create a narrative that we were investigating him personally.” He stated that Trump responded that he was likely right but asked him to consider it.
