Chris Cuomo appeared on Mediaite founder and ABC News Chief Legal Analyst Dan Abrams‘ SiriusXM show on Monday, and the pair questioned what Stormy Daniels and lawyer Michael Avenatti were doing at Michael Cohen’s court hearing.
Avenatti announced over the weekend that his client, porn star Daniels, would be making an appearance at the hearing, which the lawyer alleged was to “maintain or ensure that the integrity of the documents, whatever was seized, is maintained.”
“I have no idea what Michael Avenatti is doing there,” Abrams said on Monday, pointing out that the lawyer’s own filing stated there was no evidence the materials seized from Cohen by the FBI had any relationship to his case.
“Why is he there!?” Abrams exclaimed. “Why is he bringing Stormy Daniels there?”
“He’s trying to have it both ways,” Cuomo said. “Why is he showing up at the hearing today? With all due respect to Ms. Daniels and her counsel, for attention.”
“She’s obviously not a party to an action, she doesn’t have any role there today, but they want to keep their situation under the hot lights of the cameras,” Cuomo continued. before crediting Avenatti for “being uniquely effective in getting attention.”
“But is he now moving to becoming a bit of a sideshow act?” Abrams asked.
