On Monday, ABC News Chief Legal Analyst and Mediaite founder Dan Abrams brought his legal expertise to SiriusXM in the inaugural edition of Politics Meets the Law, an hourlong show airing on channel 124.
His first guest was CNN host Chris Cuomo, who spoke with Abrams on a wide range of topics, including his contentious on-air relationship with White House advisor Kellyanne Conway.
Calling the interview “epic,” Abrams played a clip from the Cuomo-Conway exchangeu from earlier in the day where the two battled it out Trump’s job security and ultimately how Cuomo himself knew his job was safe at CNN.
“That is awesome,” Abrams said at the conclusion of the clip, before asking Cuomo “Do you like Kellyanne Conway? Do you guys get along?”
Cuomo admitted that despite the on-air fireworks, he did.
“Yes, I do like her,” the CNN host replied.
He continued on:
I think it is fair to say at this point that I like her more than she likes me. But look, I think she is a very effective surrogate for the president, you know people will ping me on social media and say don’t have her on. I don’t want to hear her. One, that’s a mistake. We have to be open to the other side…At some point, we are going to have to find common ground. You can’t keep having people tear each other apart, although it works very well in politics.
Cuomo then added that while he likes Conway, he does think she makes a mistake by going straight for the ad hominem attacks.
“When you do that, you are showing your hand,” Cuomo stressed noting the fact Conway can’t give a straight answer, “says a lot.”
Cuomo then admitted he loves the opportunity to have Conway and someone so close to the seat of power on his show.
“I would have her on all the time. I know that would make people upset, but really that is about being upset at me and how I do the job with her. But I think she is a unique commodity and it’s a great opportunity.”
