At the very end of his program Monday night, Fox News’ Sean Hannity addressed the bombshell revelation that he was the mysterious third client of Trump attorney Michael Cohen. And he essentially just gave us all a rehash. But, in the end, we did get a humorous moment between him and Laura Ingraham.
Repeating what he had done at the start of his program, Hannity played a montage of anchors and hosts saying his name in the wake of the news breaking that the conservative commentator has a legal relationship with the president’s personal attorney. Following the clip, the Fox News host then basically parroted the statement he had released earlier in the day regarding Cohen.
“Michael Cohen never represented me in any legal manner,” Hannity said. “I never retained his services. I never received an invoice. I never paid Michael Cohen for legal fees. I did have occasional brief conversations with Michael Cohen — he’s a great attorney — about legal questions I had or I was looking for input and perspective.”
He added that his questions revolved around real estate and he felt Cohen knew real estate. He concluded his remarks on Cohen by claiming he never asked the lawyer “to bring this proceeding on my behalf,” adding that he has “no personal interest in this legal matter.”
After railing against the media a bit more, Hannity was ready to hand off to Ingraham. And the Ingraham Angle host, who has been dealing with her own controversy over an advertiser boycott brought on by her comments regarding Parkland survivor David Hogg, let her colleague know that she’s glad she’s not the one currently under the microscope.
“Hannity, all I can say is — I will just say this,” Ingraham said. “You’re like my brother but I am glad for like a millisecond the heat is off me and on you.”
“I appreciate that,” Hannity laughed. “That is like a sibling.”
