Tucker Carlson ran to Sean Hannity‘s rescue on Monday night as his fellow Fox host continues to take heat over his recently-revealed connection with embattled Trump layer Michael Cohen.
Hannity has spent the day defending himself for failing to disclose that he had taken legal advice from Cohen, who Hannity has defended ever since the FBI’s raid on his office last week. As Hannity prepares to deliver a TV statement and address these developments, Carlson took the initiative and diminished the intrigue over the potential conflict of interest and entanglement with President Trump.
“Sean Hannity is a talk show host, he’s not under investigation by anyone for anything,” said Carlson. “Who he hires as a lawyer and why is nobody’s business. No judge has a right to violate his privacy or anybody else’s.”
From there, Carlson said that the political left would sacrifice attorney-client privilege and many other legal protections in America if it gave them a chance to wound Trump.
“The point of the Russia investigation is not to find collusion. There was no collusion. Everybody knows that and everyone’s always known that. The point is and was to hurt Trump and anybody close to Trump. By the way, it’s working. Now maybe you hate Trump and you’re happy about that, but what are the rest of us losing in this process? Attorney-client privilege no longer means anything. Neither does privacy or public reputation or fairness.”
