You just knew that following the blockbuster revelation that Fox News host Sean Hannity was Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s third client, late-night talk host and Hannity foe Jimmy Kimmel was going to absolutely revel in the news.
And during last night’s monologue, the Jimmy Kimmel Live host did just that.
Highlighting that Cohen was forced by the judge during a federal court hearing on Monday to reveal the name of his secret third client, Kimmel noted that it turned out to be his “pal” Hannity. “Isn’t that interesting?” Kimmel added.
The comedian then read off Hannity’s statement of explanation regarding the Cohen relationship, leading Kimmel to joke about Hannity’s claim that he never paid Cohen for legal advice.
“That sounds normal — he has a lawyer he doesn’t pay,” Kimmel snarked. “By the way, I’m thinking of hiring Michael Cohen as my lawyer. He only has three clients and apparently, he works for free. He doesn’t take money from anyone.”
Kimmel also addressed Hannity’s assertion that he never discussed anything involving a “third-party” with Cohen.
“I don’t know what kind of legal advice doesn’t involve a third party,” Kimmel exclaimed. “Unless maybe Sean Hannity was thinking of suing himself?”
It was roughly a week ago when Kimmel and Hannity engaged in an extremely heated and highly personal war of words that resulted in both men using their programs to go after the other. Eventually, Kimmel issued an apology over the “level of vitriol,” leading Hannity to declare victory in the feud while warning the comic he could spark it back up at any time by playing some embarrassing old clips.
