Anderson Cooper roasted Sean Spicer on CNN Tuesday night, taking a mallet to the former press secretary’s rotting carcass some 10 months after it was dumped from the White House.
The brutal swipe came after a panel discussion about the White House’s attempts to contain the fallout from aide Kelly Sadler‘s remarks that Sen. John McCain was irrelevant because he’s “dying anyway.”
As the segment turned to POTUS himself, the CNN panel ganged up on pro-Trump surrogate Steve Cortes, who towards the end objected to Cooper’s use of the word “lies” to describe the president’s frequent use of false statements.
Cooper fired back by pointing out Trump’s false claims that millions of people voted illegally in 2016, as well as his (again false) claims about the crowd size at his inauguration — which Spicer infamously asserted with gusto at his first press briefing.
“The stupid crowd size at the inaugural — which nobody would be focusing on and reporting about had it not been issue number one for this White House,” Cooper noted.
“And Sean Spicer, being pushed out there on a Bataan Death March to yell and scream and destroy his credibility, so that he’s now opening up exhibits at Madame Tussaud’s wax museum.”
Cooper made sure to point out that he has his own statue at the museum, “so I’m not badmouthing Madame Tussauds.”
