“There’s a dictator in front of you who has nuclear weapons, why on earth wouldn’t you ask that question?” Chief White House Correspondent @acosta on why he asked Kim Jong Un if he would give up his nukes https://t.co/beqITLLi4Z pic.twitter.com/ZzylwQ8itE

CNN’s Jim Acosta defended himself from critics who are complaining about him shouting questions to President Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un during their meeting in Singapore.
When Trump met with the North Korean dictator earlier this week, Acosta tried to ask Kim from a distance if he’s prepared to give up his nuclear weapons. Acosta continued to ask questions to Kim and Trump throughout their summit.
That got on Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale‘s nerves. He even, bizarrely, called for the White House correspondent to lose his press credentials over the incident.
Even though Acosta didn’t talk about his online sparring match with Parscale on Wednesday morning’s New Day, he reminded people that asking questions is his job, and his inquiries were about the very reason why Trump and Kim had their historic encounter.
“Wasn’t that the entire point of this summit?” Acosta asked. “There’s a dictator in front of you who has nuclear weapons, why on earth wouldn’t you ask that question?”
Acosta continued to say it was a “golden opportunity” to ask Kim the most important question the White House press corps could’ve asked.
