Laura Ingraham took Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) to task Thursday night over his heated exchange with FBI agent Peter Strzok.
During the marathon grilling of the top investigator into the Clinton email and the Trump campaign probes, Gohmert caused an uproar on Capitol Hill when he hit below the belt by invoking Strzok’s wife regarding his infidelity with FBI lawyer Lisa Page.
“I can’t help but wonder when I see you when I see you looking there with the little smirk- how many times did you look so innocent into your wife’s eye and lie to her about Lisa Page,” Gohmert said to Strzok.
And that was after Gohmert accused him of lying under oath during their closed-door hearing.
Well, Ingraham wasn’t onboard with the congressman’s personal tactic.
“I thought at times, it wasn’t working for Republicans, I’ve gotta say,” Ingraham began. ” I think Peter Strzok did not come across particularly well. Kind of priggish, very, to me, kind of snooty and indignant. I never think that that works well for a witness.”
Then she took aim at the Gohmert.
“I like Louie Gohmert a lot- I thought that moment, that exchange with Gohmert and Strzok- I didn’t think that was good,” Ingraham continued. “And I wouldn’t want to have been one of the Republicans on that committee when that went down.”
Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who was present at the hearing, did concede to the Fox News host that it was a “wild day.”
